Come see BRICK's own Karen Robertson as the hostess/emcee at the Clean Comedy Show on August 20th.

Karen Robertson admired comics like Phyllis Diller, Bob Hope and Carol Burnett so she started her comedy career 8 years ago by taking classes from their writer Gene Perret.

She has performed at the Hollywood Improv, Pechanga Ballroom, ACES, many churches, and other venues.  Karen was a finalist in the 3-day Clean Comedy Challenge at the Ice House in Pasadena just last month.

“I do comedy because laughter makes life fun. The Bible says, ‘The one enthroned in heaven laughs’ Psalm 2:4.  If God laughs, so should we!”

We'd love to see you at BRICK's Clean Comedy Show on August 20th. We have a great lineup of local comedians.

Anita Milner at 80 is rocking the comedy stage wherever she performs!  She started in 1985 and was first runner-up in San Diego’s Got Talent in 2012.

“I don’t enter many contests because I’m a terrible loser,” Anita laughs, but she’s been a winner and a big hit at places like ACES and Pechanga Comedy Clubs. She has performed all over SoCal.

Her very first performance was on a cruise ship and the audiences’ overwhelming response set her course in comedy.  “I never feel better than I do after a good show.”

Don't miss BRICK's Clean Comedy Show on August 20th.  We have a great lineup of local comics.

Lisa Gilbert is a new comic in the San Diego area.  When asked if she’d won any awards, she replied, “I make people laugh, and that’s reward enough.” At 48 she likes to encourage others.  What a great attitude for someone who was in 10 foster homes before the age of 3.

Lisa performs in churches, fundraisers, and at Comedy Heights. Come see her do her stuff at The Comedy Palace.

Mapping water molecules helps brain surgeons?

UCSD has a new technology that maps the water molecules in the nerves of the brain called tractography.  This way they can design access to remove tumors without damaging surrounding nerves.

Here's an article describing the details.
http://health.ucsd.edu/news/releases/Pages/2013-11-27-tractography.aspx

Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego has a strong translational research componet that includes members from UCSD Moores Cancer Center, Scripps Institute, and Sanford Burnham Institute.  We are truly fortunate to have so many people in many different facilities in San Diego working together to improve the treatment of brain tumors.
